Pumpkin Island

This is the second of a series of paintings I am working on this year of the islands of Penobscot Bay, one of my favorite places in the world. This painting is based on a photograph I took of Pumpkin Island at the head of Eggemoggin Reach in Penobscot Bay, Maine, as we returned home from an island picnic last summer. I loved how the shadows stretched across the whitewashed roof of the main house and how the boathouse is tucked behind the hill near the dock.
