It was a misty, gray day for plein air painting when I painted this image of a foggy beach near Meig's Point at Hammonasset State Park in Madison, CT. The air was so wet that the paper never dried between washes, and I had to be particularly careful how much water I had in my brush to make sure I didn't create blossoms that could destroy the painting. When I returned home, I used an old fashioned mouth atomizer to spray on a splatter of paint along the beach to resemble pebbles. I think it worked really well!
