Consolation of Philosophy

The young man in the painting, Andrea, was a university philosophy student in Florence at the time of its creation. His idealism and conviction of the importance of philosophy for life was inspiring. Despite the uncertain future and career options that his studies offered, he pursued his passion supporting himself as a bicycle deliveryman. He holds a copy of "The Consolation of Philosophy" by Boethius.
